Made by skilled artisans from Ghana, Africa's Bolgatanga region, these charming baskets are handwoven from strong, thick elephant grass. Your basket will arrive in a flattened, folded version to reduce its size for shipping. It is easily reshaped: just spray it lightly with water or run a section you need to shape under water. Let it sit for a few minutes to absorb the water, and it will become pliable. While damp, gently press it back into form by hand, and then let it air dry. They are woven while wet because the material is easier to work with, you will not harm the basket with this process!
Due to the handmade nature of this product and the distance it has travelled, variations in size, small gaps in the weave, and small breaks in the material can be expected, we believe this adds to the character and the story behind the basket!
